BACKGROUND: Spider nevus (SN) is a common cutaneous vasoproliferative disorder in children. Data on the use of 595 nm PDL with multiple laser spot sizes for treating SN in children remain scarce. OBJECTIVE: To summarize the clinical characteristics and evaluate the effectiveness and safety of 595 nm PDL with multiple laser spot sizes in treating SN in children. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted on 452 patients treated for SN using 595 nm PDL with multiple laser spot sizes. RESULTS: Among the 452 children with a total of 508 lesions, complete resolution was achieved. Lesions on the head and face required a greater proportion of multiple treatments compared to other locations, whereas lesions on the neck and other areas were cured with a single treatment (χ2 = 7.774E-8, p = 0.001). There was a significant association between lesion diameter and the number of treatments, with larger lesions requiring a greater proportion of multiple treatments (χ2 = 4.725, p = 0.001). Regarding treatment season, more treatments were needed in summer (χ2 = 13.233, p = 0.001). A total of 36 children (7.08%) experienced localized adverse reactions. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings confirmed the efficacy and safety of 595 nm PDL with multiple laser spot sizes for treating SN in children.
