Source abstract
Craniopharyngioma treatment is increasingly multimodal, with options including surgery, radiation therapy, targeted molecular therapy (for papillary craniopharyngiomas), and a combination of these. As such, management of craniopharyngioma is complex, and strategies depend on patient-specific and tumor-specific factors. Nonetheless, literature regarding treatment selection is lacking. As such, this video details three distinct clinical scenarios of craniopharyngioma management. The authors specifically highlight the role of planned subtotal resection for endocrine preservation in adamantinomatous pediatric craniopharyngioma, gross-total resection for progressive adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma in an adult, and targeted molecular therapy for progressive symptomatic papillary craniopharyngioma.
